The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Principal Center for Recycling and Affirmative Procurement will host the biennial NASA RAP/P2 Workshop.

The purpose of this workshop is to:

  • Strengthen communication and promote synergy across the Agency's RAP/P2 Community
  • Provide opportunities for networking and sharing best management practices
  • Increase awareness of the Agency's successes and ongoing challenges in the areas of RAP and P2

Attendees will benefit from the workshop in the following ways:

  • Opportunity to provide a Center perspective/input regarding revising the NPR 8530.1A (Affirmative Procurement Program and Plan for Environmentally Preferable Products)
  • Meet new NASA HQ Procurement Officer and have opportunity to addresses issues, challenges, waiver process, etc. on a one-on-one basis
  • Avoid re-inventing the wheel: learning from other NASA Center’s program reports to gain insight into best management practices for recycling and pollution prevention
  • Receive bio-based training (USDA Bio-Preferred Program, Office of Technology Transfer) to use at Center and include as training data for RCRA reporting
  • Learn from TEERM (The NASA Technology Evaluation for Environmental Risk Mitigation Principal Center) about a biobased product substitute for blast media
  • Learn about the latest major revisions in NETS (NASA Environmental Tracking System) and what it means to the Center in terms of RCRA data collection
  • Learn how Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) projects can contribute to RCRA data collection efforts (materials, solid waste diversion)
