Go Green
In an effort to continually promote elements of environmental stewardship, the 2009 NASA Recycling & Affirmative Procurement/Pollution Prevention Workshop is going green. Listed below are some of the green aspects:
- Using paperless technology via a NASA Workshop website which includes on-line registration
- Reducing the amount of travel needed by hosting the workshop at a NASA Center in a venue which has a naturally lighted meeting space with an onsite recycling program
- Encouraging lodging in "green" designated hotels (e.g., hotels which offer recycling, low flow fixtures, linen reuse options, high efficiency lighting, reclaimed water for irrigation)
- Providing reusable drink cups to minimize polystyrene waste for use at the Headquarter's cafeteria (which is in close proximity to the workshop). Cups are donated by Lackmann Food Service
- Providing samples of recycled-content products donated by various companies
- Offering tree seedlings to attendees as a means for carbon-offsetting relating to travel
