Green
Purchasing - Developed at Ames Research Center and located
on NASA's SATERN training site, this course describes NASA's
preference program for procuring environmentally preferable
products, what federal purchasers need to know to comply
with green purchasing rules, and how the NASA preference
program for green products applies to what you purchase.
Four categories of "green" products that fall
under the preference program are covered: 1) recycled content;
2) biobased; 3) energy efficient and; 4) environmentally
preferable products. The course is intended for all Ames
employees who purchase goods and/or services on behalf of
NASA Ames. (Module contains 18 slides plus test). |

Program This resource is a supporting component in compliance with Section 9002
of the Farm Security and Rural Investment Act of 2002 (FSRIA). It directs
the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) to develop and implement a comprehensive
preferred procurement program for the Federal Government. The law requires
Federal agencies to give procurement preference to USDA-designated biobased
products and to develop affirmative procurement programs for purchasing
them and establishing tracking and reporting systems. |
